Information about 'Home Learning' for pupils in Foundation Class 1

*NEWS - End of Summer Term Friday 17th July 2020*

Thank you all for your hard work, co-operation and ongoing support this year.

We have had a fantastic first two terms in school and have thoroughly enjoyed catching up with lots of you during the recent weeks.

Well done for the efforts and enthusiasm you have shown towards your home learning. We are very proud of you all.

*NEWS - Summer Reading Challenge*

A link has been sent to your child in their shared files on J2e.

Why not take part in this challenge to motivate and encourage pupils to read fiction and non-fiction texts. This project is in conjunction with Llanelli Library which is now offering an online "Borrow Box" service. More information is available in J2e shared files.

 

*NEWS - NEW TOPIC*

Week Commencing Monday 1st June

Summer Tem 2020

Our new topic is “Will you read me a story?”  During this topic we will be focusing on traditional fairy tales. As part of our learning we will explore;

  • Fairytale characters
  • Story maps and writing stories of our own
  • Story settings and plots
  • Creative tasks e.g. making wands, shields, crowns
  • Fairytale homes and castles

For this topic we will be ficusing on one book per week ans tasks/activities wil be set around this story. Our book list is as follows;

  • Jack and the Beanstalk
  • The Gingerbread Man
  • Cinderella
  • Hansel and Gretel
  • The Three Little Pigs
  • Goldilocks and the Three Bears
  • Little Red Riding Hood

Home Learning Tasks will continue to be shared through your child's J2e 'shared files' from Monday 1st June.

In addition to this we will be developing our literacy and numeracy skills through work and activities I will set for you.

Home Learning

Activities and tasks will be set and shared with your child through their J2e account each Monday morning. These tasks can be completed throughout the week as and when is convenient for you.

Our school Twitter account @DafenSchool is updated with activities and ideas regularly. Posts entirely specific to FP1 will be identifiable by *Information for FP1*.

Messages are also sent out through Schoop to keep you updated.

How to access and use your child's J2e account;

During this time Ruth Miskin is running a series of Phonics lessons on her YouTube channel.

Daily Reading

We have sent reading books home with your child, however, the Oxford Owl website is offering access to ebooks free of charge. These might be useful should you want to explore different stories with your child. The website also offers a range of Mathematics and English based activities.
