EntreCompEdu Global Pioneer School 2021
Click below to share the story behind our EntreCompEdu Global Pioneer School Award. We discuss how it began pre-Covid and how it supports the New Curriculum for Wales. We highlight in the video examples of the children's entrepernurial learning in action across the school this year. As well as, the next steps for us as a school and community to continue to develop entrepernurial learning.
Our recent event celebrating our award as the first Global EntreCompEdu Pioneer School was a great success! We would like to say a special Diolch yn Fawr to our visitors! They included:
- Lee Waters, Deputy Minister for Climate Change,
- Nia Griffith, Shadow Secretary of State for Wales,
- Gareth Morgans, Director of Education and Children’s Services at Carmarthenshire County Council,
- UWTSD’s Dr Christine Jones, Interim Dean of the Institute of Education and Humanities,
- and local business champion, George Parker, of Parker Brothers (Contractors)

Welsh Water unveils RainScape project at Dafen Primary School
Welsh Water has completed its latest RainScape project to help tackle flooding in Llanelli. Dafen Primary is the third school to be included in the RainScape project.
A new swale and attractive planters have been installed as part of Dafen Primary School’s playground. The design includes new plants and fauna, attracting more wildlife to the area and increasing biodiversity.
Welsh Water says: “We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with Dafen Primary School and are grateful for the help and support from the headteacher and education department. We were able to create a safe and sustainable educational environment, with an interactive element that will play a significant part in reducing the risk of wastewater flooding in Llanelli.”
An official opening day was held on 4th July 2019 where the new RainScape features were unveiled along with an information board about the project.
